A fact, some of the dangers of
exhaust fumes hide silently in the background so that many people are
not even aware of them.
One may ask what exhaust fume
is. It’s an exhaust gas or flue gas emitted as a result of
Combustion of fuels such as natural gas, gasoline, petrol, bio-diesel
blends.
Study after study has proven
that exhaust fumes are responsible for a number of physical maladies
as well as being a danger to the environment.
As a concerned citizen on
this planet we call home, it helps to be aware of the many dangers of
exhaust fumes so that we can take steps to do something about this
very real problem.
Both gasoline engines and
diesel engines emit exhaust fumes so the problem is more widespread
and all-encompassing than you might have been led to believe.
There probably isn't a person
on earth who isn't aware of the fact that carbon monoxide poisoning
can kill, and of course the number one source of carbon monoxide is
from exhaust fumes but we have become ignorant of its effect.
When listing the dangers of
exhaust fumes, death from carbon monoxide poisoning falls at the top
of the list.
However, death from carbon
monoxide poisoning is just one of many dangers to be concerned with.
Some of the dangers of exhaust
fumes are immediate while others happen over a longer period of time
and consequently, are not as readily apparent.
Unfortunately, as if carbon
monoxide were not bad enough, there are a great number of the other
pathogens that contribute to the dangers of exhaust fumes.
Some of those toxins include
sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, benzene, poly-cyclic hydrocarbons
and formaldehyde.
Each of those substances is a
pathogen which can have several consequences both immediately and
over the long haul.
Medical science has
established that many of these substances have harmful effects on
bone marrow, the spleen and even our lymph nodes.
As a matter of fact, the
circulatory system is especially vulnerable to the toxins in exhaust
fumes.
Studies have shown that many
of these toxins have resulted in problems in the bloodstream such as
anemia.
The main cause of harmful
exhaust fumes is that when a vehicle is driven for a long period the
exhaust system wears out over time.
When this happens the Fuel
filter is not able do its work and Cause the release harmful exhaust
fumes.
If the fumes coming out are
black it means the Combustion is not unbalanced. This means there is
not enough air in or there is excessive amount of fuel.
And if it’s a bit white is
as a result of the Condensation of hot water vapor coming into
contact with the cold air out side.
Carbon monoxide poisoning
typically occurs from breathing in too much carbon monoxide (CO).
Symptoms are often described
as "flu-like" and commonly include headache, dizziness,
weakness, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion.
Large exposures can result in
loss of consciousness, arrhythmia's,
seizures, or death.
The classically described
"cherry red skin" rarely occurs. Long term complications
may include feeling tired, trouble with memory, and movement
problems.
In those exposed to smoke,
cyanide toxicity should also be Carbon monoxide.
From walking to work to
carpooling, there are lots of ways you can reduce your impact.
Discover your commuting style.
Since most pollution from
cars and trucks is due to the burning of fuel, you can reduce
pollution from these sources by burning less fuel, burning fuel
cleaner and burning cleaner fuel.
One has to purchase a vehicle
that most fuel efficient vehicle that meets your average daily needs,
preferably one that is rated at 32 MPG (Miles per Gallon) or more.
