Lunching of Bonwire Kente Festival 2017




Ghana’s most celebrated traditional cloth Kente is was launched at Bonwire in the Ashanti Region Kente festival, focus of the Kente festival observed by the people of Bonwire traditional area in the Ashanti Region.

 The festival underscores the importance of Kente as a key economic and cultural heritage of the people. At the launch of the 2017 celebration, Kente weavers were encouraged to preserve the aesthetic and cultural values inherent in the cloth.
Bonwire Kente is one of the prominent Ashanti cultural heritages. Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu Beatrice Serwaah Derkyi was present at the occasion, she says the culture of our forefathers must be preserved and handed over to the younger generations.


A newly woven Kente which was name Truth (“nokware”) was show cased at the festival. Nana Bobie Ansah II is the paramount chief, he says   the youth should engage in the Kente business and that the main fest will be in the month of December
